Welcome

We welcome you to Cottage Way Christian Church as Christ has welcomed us.

(Romans 15:7)

We want everyone who comes to Cottage Way to hear the good news of God’s love.  Through our worship or through any of the other things we have at the church, we hope you hear Christ speaking words of good news to you.  We want everyone to find the hope, the courage, the strength, the peace and the joy that God’s love gives.

This is what we have found at Cottage Way Christian Church.  It is what we want for you, too.

Pastor Neal Kentch

Music

Adult Choir: They Adult Choir sings every Sunday morning and rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  The choir adds so much to our worship.  You can be a part of it.  There are no tryouts and rehearsals are fun.
Praise Team:  We have a smaller praise team that sings just about every Sunday.  The Praise Team rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m.  You are welcome to join this group, too.

Children’s Choir:  Our Children’s Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings after worship and during the coffee fellowship.  All kids are welcome.  They love it when they get to sing on Sunday morning.

For Young People

Children and youth are very important at Cottage Way.  We include them in our worship as acolytes and we have a Children’s Moment during worship when they come to the front of the church to talk with Pastor Neal.  It’s always good, too, when the Children’s Choir sing.  And, every other Sunday, the young people go to room 7 following the Children’s Moment for Children’s Church.

Children and youth, along with their families, can be a part of our Families and Friends for Fun group.  The families of our young people plan fun activities and outings, service projects, and fund raisers.  And young people and their families participate.  Everyone, young and old, makes friends and has fun.

We work hard to see that all of our young people have the chance to go to Church Camp every summer and spend a week at our Regional Church’s beautiful camp near Foresthill.

Lots of Things

We have a women’s group called Echoes that meets monthly for study, worship, and lunch.  There is also a Men’s Group that meets on the first and third Saturdays.  We have an annual Barbecue in the summer and a Turkey Dinner before Thanksgiving.  And a lot of other special activities throughout the year.

We also serve our community with our Block Party and by collecting school supplies, making Christmas and Thanksgiving baskets, and contributing to a local food pantry.

About Our Pastor

Pastor Neal Kentch has served Cottage Way since 2008 and has been a pastor for 30 years.  He is a graduate of Phillips University and the University of Chicago Divinity School.

Worship

Worship is so very important for us at Cottage Way.  We have found that, in our worship, we come into contact with God.  And we have found that God loves us.  And this makes a big difference in our lives.

Our Sunday morning worship begins at 11:00 a.m.  It is a chance for you to pray and to sing to God.  And you will hear a message of hope from the Bible.  We have communion every Sunday and everyone is welcome at Christ’s communion table to partake of the goodness and kindness of God.

Before our Sunday morning worship, at 10:45 a.m., we have a hymn sing.  You can request an old hymn or a contemporary praise song.

We have a nursery and a nursery attendant who is happy to help you with your young children during worship.

Following worship there is always a coffee fellowship in the church’s social hall.  Everyone is welcome.  It is a chance for you to talk with people and get to know them.

Our Welcome Table Worship is on Saturday evenings at 5:00 p.m  It is a more informal worship that meets in our Social Hall.  There is a light supper following the service.

Learning

There are several opportunities for learning and study at Cottage Way for adults and for children and youth.

Children and Youth Sunday School: We have three classes for children and youth on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.  We have a class for preschool to first grade, another for second grade to fifth grade, and one for the sixth grade and up.

Adult Sunday School Class: Our Adult Sunday School Class also meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.  There is always a lively discussion of the Bible and life in this class.  We are currently working to start a second adult class for younger adults.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study:  Pastor Neal leads a Bible study at the church on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.  The group spends several weeks reading a book of the Bible together and discussing it as they go along.

Get Involved

You can make a difference!  You can do something good.  There are a lot of ways you can express your love of God and other people through Cottage Way.  You could be involved with the group that plans our worship or that works with children or the group that plans social activities for the church.  We have a Craft Fair in the fall.  You could help with the craft fair or the Block Party we have for the community.  Or maybe you have an idea for something new that would add to the life of Cottage Way.  Talk with Pastor Neal and he’ll help you get involved
